Surgical Services

We know surgery can feel scary and stressful. When surgery is recommended, it is because there is a problem we are trying to solve, prevent, repair, or remove.
At BVC, we approach surgery with the same "best medicine" mindset we bring to every case. We are thorough, practical, and we tailor each plan to the patient, the procedure, and the safest path forward to increase our odds for the best possible outcome.
There is an old surgical saying: “A chance to cut is a chance to cure.” Surgical intervention can be deeply rewarding because it can remove a problem, repair damage, or improve a patient’s quality of life. But surgery should always be recommended thoughtfully, performed carefully, and pursued only in a patient’s best interest.
We offer a wide range of surgical services, from routine procedures to more complex soft-tissue and reproductive surgeries. Some surgeries are better performed by a board-certified veterinary surgeon or an outside surgeon. We trust specific referral partners for our special patients, and we will always make the best recommendation for your pet.

- Surgical Planning and Patient Safety
Every surgery deserves a thoughtful plan, whether the procedure is routine, urgent, or complicated. Each surgical plan at BVC includes individualized consideration of the patient, procedure, safest choice of anesthetic medications, appropriate pain control, monitoring, and recovery.
Pre-surgical bloodwork is performed and interpreted to help us keep each patient as safe as possible. For higher-risk patients, we have same-day bloodwork options, additional anesthesia options including sevoflurane, and in-house coagulation testing when clotting status needs to be evaluated before surgery.
Our dedicated surgical suite is designed around cleanliness, efficiency, monitoring, patient warming, and safe recovery.
Scheduling Surgery
Most surgical procedures begin with a consultation or pre-surgical exam so we can evaluate the patient, discuss the procedure, review recommended testing, and provide an individualized estimate before moving forward.
